Prince Harry And Meghan Markle To Leave The Golden State For The Vancouver Invictus Games 2025
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly leaving their sunny Montecito mansion behind in California and are heading to Vancouver, Canada, from Feb. 14 to Feb. 16.
Members of the International Committee have all been called to attend in preparation for The Invictus Games Whistler 2025's 'One Year to Go' celebrations.
Their visit for the game's celebrations will span over the course of three days, providing team managers, competitors, and coaches an opportunity to engage in winter adaptive sports in a Winter Training Camp.
Next year, the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will gather over 500 competitors from over 20 nations to compete in winter sports including Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Skeleton, and Wheelchair Curling in addition to their core sports, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball.
Spending Valentine's Day at these games holds a special place for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as the couple made their debut at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017, getting married the following year.
"It is here at the Invictus Games, that you realize, whatever you carry is a springboard to propel you to the next level," Prince Harry, 39, said during the Netflix documentary 'Heart of Invictus.'
"If your goal was to make your country proud you've done it," he began. "If your goal was to make your family happy, you've achieved it."
Harry founded the Invictus Games — which launched on March 6, 2014 — as a multi-national sports event after he noticed how the power of physical sports could help wounded veterans and servicemen and women in their recovery journey physically, mentally, and socially.
"The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will offer a global platform to expand the range and profile of winter adaptive sports," Prince Harry said in a statement on the foundation's website. "With deep respect, I'm also pleased to share that the Games in Canada will be held in partnership with the First Nations, in the spirit of truth and reconciliation with indigenous communities."
The father of two told PEOPLE, "I had always wanted to share these incredible moments with someone special, and to have Meg by my side means everything."
Prince Harry is the youngest son of Diana, Princess of Wales, the first wife of Charles III, an activist and humanitarian.
Diana, who died in 1997 at age 36, was known to be athletic, participating in sports with her sons including running races at his school and being present at his sporting events, even in a flowing skirt and heels.
