The Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service noted that Trader Joe's chicken soup dumplings may contain foreign materials, "specifically hard plastic from a permanent marker pen."

According to the Associated Press, the 6-ounce "Trader Joe's Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings" in question were produced on Dec. 7. They can be identified by their side box labels with lot codes 03.07.25.C1-1 and 03.07.25.C1-2.

Trader Joe's made the recall announcement via their website on March 2, citing "presence of foreign material." Customers also reported finding hard plastics in their Trader Joe's branded products.

"No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date. If you purchased Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings with the best by date 03.07.25 and lot code C1-1 or C1-2, please discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe's for a full refund," the announcement stated.

The dumplings' production company, CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corp., have acknowledged the issue happened during the manufacturing process and are continuing to investigate.

In an emailed statement to the publication, the food company has doubled-down in defending its quality control practices. "Customer safety remains our No. 1 priority," the statement said.

The dumplings aren't the only food product that has been recently recalled.

On Feb. 7, an announcement was posted citing potential Listeria monocytogenes in certain products containing Cotija cheese.

"Related to an FDA recall of Rizo-López Foods, Inc. dairy items used in a wide variety of foods from many retail brands, we are recalling the products listed below made with cotija cheese, as the cheese has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes," the website reported.

The products included Chicken Enchiladas Verde (sku 58292), Cilantro Salad Dressing (sku 36420), Elote Chopped Salad Kit (sku 74768), and Southwest Salad (sku 56077).

"If you purchased any of these products, please discard them or return them to any Trader Joe's for a full refund," the press release instructed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that 26 people were infected with the Listeria outbreak from 11 states 23 people have been hospitalized and two deaths.

The AP reports foreign object contamination remains on top of the list of food recalls in the United States.
