Whoopi Goldberg Blasts 'View' Audience Member For Secretly Recording The Show During Live Telecast
Whoopi Goldberg paused a live broadcast of 'The View' when an audience member was caught secretly recording a portion of the show.
On Tuesday, Goldberg addressed the individual who was reportedly using a cellphone to record the ladies' Hot Topics discussion from his seat.
While co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin was speaking about Donald Trump's ongoing legal woes, Goldberg, 68, said, "Hold on a second, hold on."
The EGOT winner stood up from her moderator seat at the table to approach the unseen audience member, saying, "Sir, I have to stop you with the camera. Because I can see you. So, do me a favor, don't pull it out again, I'd appreciate that. Thank you."
The actress returned to her seat when co-host Joy Behar asked, "What was he doing?" Sara Haines chimed in, "Recording," as she took a sip from her mug.
The audience member, who had earlier told the warm-up comedian Regina DeCicco he was 68, was there alone. He was allowed to stay for the remainder of the broadcast.
Entertainment Weekly reports that studio audience members are typically asked to put their cell phones away before the recording begins. Per an ENSTARZ insider who was at the live broadcast, the audience was asked to turn off their phones and put them completely away, so that any loud noises or vibrations would not interfere with the taping.
This isn't the first time Goldberg made headlines while on the morning panel talk show.
Last year, Goldberg called out an audience member who got a bit too rambunctious during a taping of 'The View.'
"Did you just call me an old broad?" she asked the heckler who was seated nearby after she made a comment about the co-host.
She added: "I am an old broad and happy about it."
'The View' premieres weekdays at 11:00am on ABC.
