Donald, Melania Trump Slammed For 'Super Cringe' Mar-A-Lago Dinner Tradition
Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, were spotted with their son, Barron Trump, over the weekend, but the family's sighting sparked criticisms from some netizens.
The former first couple spent Easter Sunday with Barron. They were at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, for a family dinner.
Video clips of Trump, Melania and Barron's arrival made the rounds on social media. However, some netizens were not impressed with the trio's grand entrance, particularly how the crowd applauded them even though they resided in the building.
"Why do Donnie and Melania make an entrance whenever they go to dinner in their own house? It's super cringe. I'm going to start lining up friends in my living room to applaud me making my way to the fridge," one tweeted with a woozy face emoji.
"Don't forget the velvet rope around your dining table. Don't let the peasants near you," a second user added.
A third person opined, "Trump arrives at Mar a Lago Easter dinner to cheer and adulation, his safe zone."
"They dress up for dinner. Which I admit, I like. But this, with the photographers and roped-off areas, seems like it's a TV show. The expense just in staffing to cater to all that fluff must be astounding," another wrote.
Another netizen attempted to address the issue concerning the people clapping for Trump and his family in their residence. According to @GallihughDeb, the people were "made" to clap. She shared a story about a woman and her husband allegedly eating at Mar-a-Lago, and they got their meal cold because they were told to stand and clap when Trump entered the room.
"She said she was never going to go there again," the online user added.
Meanwhile, some netizens defended the Trumps. According to them, people welcome the former first couple out of "respect."
"It's called respect. You might earn some one day if you try real hard," one opined.
Another added, "Well, it is a resort and they are entering a restaurant. Wear a helmet before you hurt yourself."
A different user asked the netizen who seemingly criticized Trump's entrance if she was "jealous." On the other hand, Cindy Brazo said it was normal "if only you had friends."
Another clip taken from the outing showed Barron towering over his mom. Many praised Melania, calling the former first lady "beautiful." Several also complimented Barron's height, with one suggesting that the teenager should be signed by the Knicks.
