Donald Trump's Dance Move 'Mimics Drying The Back Of Your Neck,' Suggests 'Bravado': Body Language Expert
Donald Trump showed off his dance moves before leaving Mar-a-Lago after having dinner with his family.
The former U.S. president stepped out in a rare sighting with his wife, Melania Trump, and their son, Barron Trump, on Sunday for an Easter dinner at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. A clip of Trump seemingly dancing made the rounds on social media.
Judi James, a leading communication and body language expert who has appeared regularly on BBC News, Sky News, GB News and CNN, weighed in on Trump's surprising gesture. For her, the move "mimics drying the back of your neck with a towel after a shower" because his hands were "balled into fists" as if he was holding something.
James told The Mirror that the ex-POTUS had a "rather determined facial expression" seemingly "aimed at making people smile." However, Trump's "small ritual of what could have been intended as a victory" fell "flat."
"His initial dance move would suggest bravado and a shrugging off of any thoughts of anxiety or fear," James explained.
She noted how Trump greeted every person he saw on his way out and made "muscular rituals," including "the pats and the bicep clasps" that "look firm." However, one "hand slap" reportedly "looks borderline painful."
"All of this power-proving suggests someone who wants to tattoo their high levels of status and leadership on the room before they leave," the body language expert added.
The Trumps' recent outing received mixed reactions from the netizens, with some saying they were happy Trump was with Melania and Barron. But others criticized it because another video showed the other guests welcoming them with applause when they arrived at the restaurant.
"Why do Donnie and Melania make an entrance whenever they go to dinner in their own house? It's super cringe. I'm going to start lining up friends in my living room to applaud me making my way to the fridge," one tweeted with a woozy face emoji.
Several also pointed out the velvet rope around the dining table, seemingly segregating them from the other guests. Another user claimed that other guests were "made" to stand and clap whenever Trump showed up.
