Viral 'Migrant Influencer' Who Encourages Illegal Border Crossing Faces Firearms Charges
A viral "migrant influencer" who has advised other migrants to illegally cross the border and squat in the homes of American citizens is facing potential gun charges.
Leonel Moreno, 27, has been flagged to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the New York Post reported, citing internal federal documents.
Unnamed sources told the outlet that Moreno could be charged with violations of the Gun Control Act, which prohibits parolees from possessing, shipping, transporting, or receiving firearms or ammunition.
The ATF said it can't "confirm or deny information about potential or ongoing investigations."

In several videos posted on his Instagram in March, Moreno brandished firearms in a gun store and asked his followers which weapon they liked best.
"Thank God I already have my license," Moreno said in one clip.
"If you want a gun, you can buy them in stores," he said in another post.
Despite his posts, there is no evidence that he purchased a gun.
Authorities also have not confirmed whether any firearm was seized from Moreno's hotel room when he was arrested last month.
Moreno is currently being held at Geauga County Jail in Ohio, the Post reported, citing ICE records. The bureau is reportedly considering filing federal firearms charges against the Venezuelan national, the docs showed.
Moreno was arrested by ICE officers in Columbus, Ohio, on March 29 after failing to turn up to mandatory check-ins.
The check-ins with officers were a requirement in the parole scheme that allowed him to stay in the U.S. after he crossed the southern border into Texas illegally in 2022.
John Fabbricatore, a former ICE field office director in Denver, told the Post that charges under Gun Control Act section 922(g) are "a serious matter and can result in significant legal consequences for Moreno."
"This should be a warning to any illegal aliens that possessing a firearm unlawfully will result in criminal charges and hopefully lead to a conviction," added Fabbricatore.
In other posts on Instagram, Moreno could be seen showing off wads of cash, bragging that he did not need to work and claiming that he benefitted from government programs.
"I didn't cross the Rio Grande to work like a slave," he said in Spanish in one video, according to a translation cited by Fox News Digital. "I came to the U.S. to mark my territory."
Moreno also previously shared tips on how to invade vacant homes on his TikTok account, where he had more than 500,000 followers before it was taken down last week.
