Melania Trump Looks Like ‘Well-Groomed’ Plant While Donald Is A ‘Knotweed’ At ‘Awkward’ Fundraiser: Body Language Expert
Melania Trump and Donald Trump were spotted out and about in a rare sighting over the weekend.
The former first couple attended a fundraiser event at John Paulson's home in Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday. Judi James, a leading communication and body language expert who has appeared regularly on BBC News, Sky News, GB News and CNN, weighed in on their gestures at the "awkward" event and noticed the contrast in Melania and Trump's body language. She even likened Melania to a "well-groomed" plant, while Trump was reportedly "more like a knotweed" that grows on the roadsides.
"If Melania were a plant she'd be Topiary: well-groomed, well-manicured and with not one move, expression, or hair out of place. Her husband though would be more like Knotweed: dominant, dishevelled and hard to budge once it's taken root," James told the Mirror.
James highlighted another contrast between Barron Trump's parents. According to the expert, the former president "seems to value the odd PDA," while Melania doesn't feel the same way. She was even spotted "swatting" her husband's hand away in the past. These differences created "awkward-looking moments," which James claimed "always has" been the case.
In particular, James felt that Melania didn't expect to hold hands with her husband on the outing or was avoiding it because there was a noticeable delay on her end when he extended an invitation to lock fingers with her.
"[Melania] smiles and poses in a very FLOTUS manner here with their guests while Trump leans across, apparently sharing what looks like a joke," James continued.
"On arrival, Melania's expression is looking rather fierce and as Donald holds his hand out to clasp hers in an emphatic 'announcement' gesture, Melania's hand appears to be coming out of her pocket in a delayed response, suggesting she was either not expecting the hand-hold that ensued or maybe preferring to avoid it."
James also weighed in on Barron's viral photo when he recently joined his dad at another fundraising event at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. According to her, the youngest Trump seemed keen not to look like his dad.
"The lack of mimicry or mirroring here suggests he is becoming his own man with his own opinions and taking his own decisions. Failing to buckle to group pressure to grin like the others or even offer a thumbs-up like his father takes considerable resolve," James said of Barron.
