Tori Spelling To Follow Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Taylor's Move After Dean McDermott Divorce
Tori Spelling is open to another marriage amid her ongoing divorce.
In the second episode of her "misSPELLING" podcast, the "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum was asked if she could see herself marrying again. Spelling filed for divorce from Dean McDermott last month after 17 years of marriage. Despite her second failed marriage, Spelling was hopeful that she would eventually find her lifetime partner in her next romance, just like Jennifer Lopez and Elizabeth Taylor.
"I do love planning a wedding. J. Lo did it how many times? Four times? There you go. Sure," said Spelling, 50. "Elizabeth Taylor, how many times? Eight. Sure. Why not?"
Lopez, who is happily married to Ben Affleck, was previously married to Ojani Noa (1997 - 1998), Cris Judd (2001 - 2003) and Marc Anthony (2004 - 2014). On the other hand, Taylor was married to seven men but tied the knot with one of them twice -- Conrad Hilton Jr. (1950 - 1951), Michael Wilding (1952 - 1957), Mike Todd (1957 - 1958), Eddie Fisher (1959 - 1964), Richard Burton (1964 - 1974) and (1975 - 1976), John W. Warner (1976 - 1982) and Larry Fortensky (1991 - 1996).
Someone from the room, presumably an iHeartRadio producer, warned Spelling to slow down and reminded her that her next marriage should not be her "priority right now." But the celebrity mom of five admitted that she didn't want to be alone.
"You say this all the time. ... 'Be with yourself. Be happy with yourself.' I don't want to be with myself," the "Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?" actress said. "I haven't been alone, honestly, I still don't poop alone. Beau [her 7-year-old son] still stands there and stares and talks to me while I'm pooping. It's like, I don't know. I haven't pooped, peed alone in 18 years. First, it was Dean, then it was kids. I don't know. I think I function better with people. Is that codependent? ... Cool. Redefine it."
Spelling and McDermott reportedly started an affair when they met on the set of their 2005 thriller and sci-fi movie "Mind Over Murder." She was still married to Charlie Shanian (2004 - 2006) at the time, and he was still with Mary Jo Eustace (1993 - 2006), his wife of 13 years. Spelling and McDermott share five children -- Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau.
Spelling filed for divorce on March 29, per Us Weekly. On Monday's episode, she also recounted their final fight when she smashed her "baked potato [that] was loaded to perfection" on the ground.
"I've never seen a baked potato fly like that. Let me just say it was a wall-to-wall potato. It was on the floor, it was on the oven, it was everywhere," Spelling said.
Their fight happened in June 2023. On the same day, McDermott announced their split in a since-deleted Instagram post.
"It's with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that (sic) @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways and start a new journey of our own," the actor wrote, Page Six reported.
"We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness."
Spelling said that McDermott had threatened her with divorce "a million times," and there were times she felt she "desperately wanted it" but wouldn't do it unless she meant it. McDermott later shared that he was struggling with substance abuse and checked himself into treatment.
