Melania's Ex-Staff Drags Trump's Sweet Tribute Video For Wife; Calls It 'Off Brand'
Melania Trump's former close friend and adviser has roasted the romantic tribute Donald Trump shared on social media for his wife over the weekend.
On Tuesday, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff took to X, formerly Twitter, to criticize the video montage honoring Melania and her marriage to Trump that the ex-president posted to Truth Social Sunday, calling it "off brand."
Melania's supposed former "best friend" also predicted that the employee who created the compilation may soon be fired over it.
"Whoever compiled this footage to create this montage of Melania definitely didn't know the back stories to some of these instances & how 'off brand' this is," Winston Wolkoff wrote.
She added, "You may soon hear, 'you're fired!' When you play with fire, you get burned, even if you weren't the one holding the match."
Winston Wolkoff did not elaborate on these supposed "back stories" and which instances she was referring to, but some X users suggested one of these moments may have been Melania wearing her "I Really Don't Care, Do U?" jacket while visiting undocumented children detained at the border in 2018 -- a move that was heavily criticized as "tone-deaf."
In addition to the footage of Melania and her now-infamous jacket, the video montage -- which was set to the Starship song "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" -- also included clips of her and Trump from his presidency.
Some of the clips showed Melania and Trump meeting Queen Elizabeth II and various world leaders, such as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The moment Melania and Trump personally welcomed three Americans who were held captive in North Korea upon their return to the U.S. was also included in the montage.
The former president and first lady were seen whispering to each other, smiling, holding hands, and exchanging kisses in the video montage.
The creator of the video also included footage from Melania and Trump's wedding at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida, on Jan. 22, 2005.
Some X users apparently agreed with Winston Wolkoff that sharing the video seemed like an unusual move for Trump.
A number of users speculated that the GOP presidential candidate may have reposted the video because of Melania's absence from the campaign trail.
"She won't appear on the campaign trail, so this is all they got of the 'loving pair.' In some cases, they didn't cut early enough. You can see the annoyance and distain in her face in so many of these clips," one critic claimed.
"Trump definitely knows he needs to get Melania out there. If she barely does it publicly, he'll create a 'walk down memory lane' montage," a second commenter suggested.
Another claimed it may be "damage control" for the alleged "impending separation" of Trump and Melania.
Others suggested that the timing may be significant considering Trump's hush-money trial is set to start next week.
"Is that his way of begging her not to leave him because of all the stuff she will have to hear and see during the Stormy Daniels trial?" one X user speculated.
Trump will soon appear in court to face 34 counts of falsifying business records over the reimbursement of alleged hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Winston Wolkoff -- who wrote a scathing 2020 tell-all book about Melania and her experience with the Trump administration titled "Melania and Me" -- has aired her criticism of the former president and first lady on social media over the past weeks.
Last month, she suggested that Trump and Melania's marriage may be on the rocks by claiming on X that he has stopped showing "chivalry" toward his wife.
"Let me bottom line this for you. Perception is everything to the Trump Family so Donald's lack of 'chivalry' towards Melania is quite a 'tell,'" Winston Wolkoff wrote alongside a video montage of some of Trump and Melania's old and more recent public appearances together.
She went on to claim, "Chivalry for Donald was waiting for Melania to go first & ensuring she walked by his side. He's been doing neither recently. Take a [look]."
The video began with a throwback clip of Trump holding Melania's hand and placing his hand on her back, allowing her to walk ahead of him.
The montage then showed more recent footage of Trump walking ahead of Melania at various public events.
Winston Wolkoff's post had some X users convinced that the couple now "despise each other" -- a speculation that was further fueled by a now-viral video of the Trumps' appearance at a Florida fundraiser on Saturday.
In a video shared on X Saturday, Melania can be seen looking zoned out as she stood next to her husband while he gave a speech to donors.
Some critics claimed that Melania looked like a "hostage" and seemed "miserable" next to Trump.
Despite the speculation, Melania has been by the presidential candidate's side at various major events in recent months.
In February, Melania and Trump were seen looking affectionate as they attended The Trumpettes gala held in the former president's honor at their Florida estate Mar-a-Lago.
Melania also accompanied Trump as he hosted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at Mar-a-Lago last month.
