'Man of Steel 2' Cast Rumors: Orlando Bloom Frontrunner to Play Batman, Report Reveals [VIDEO]
British actor Orlando Bloom is the top candidate to land the part of Batman in the upcoming film Man of Steel 2, according to the Daily Express.
The 36-year-old joins Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal as the list of actors named as frontrunners for the role of Batman in the tentatively titled Man of Steel 2: Batman vs Superman film, set for release in 2015. Henry Cavill will continue in his role as Superman for the highly-anticipated collaborative film.

The publication citied a "senior source" at Warner Bros as the provider of the information.
"Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call," the insider allegedly said. "He would be perfect to play off Henry and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male lead."
The paper referred to British actor Andrew Garfield's role as Spider-Man to showcase the momentum behind the casting of U.K. performers in superhero movies. Media analyst Mike Raia said if Bloom appears in Man of Steel 2, it will be a historical moment for English actors.

"It will mean for the first time ever, Brits will be in the three prime roles of Batman, Superman and Spider-Man," Raia said. "All three have proven star quality and can individually almost guarantee major box office returns."
The sequel to Man of Steel will be shot in Canada, much like the original film. The production of the follow-up, however, will take place primarily in Toronto as opposed to Vancouver, where the first movie was shot, according to MovieWeb.com. The decision was made largely because of Toronto's more favorable tax incentives.
