Jill Biden Stuns At White House State Dinner Party In Sparkling Crystal Dress
First Lady Jill Biden turned heads at the recent White House state dinner.
President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, hosted a dinner for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko Kishida at the White House on Wednesday. The FLOTUS opted for a dress from Oscar de la Renta designed with sapphire ombré art nouveau crystal embroidery and a split on the back, per WWD.
Since Biden already sparkled in her dress, she wore minimal jewelry -- a pair of dangling earrings. She styled her hair in a low bun and completed her get-up with glittering stiletto heels that perfectly matched her dress. Meanwhile, the president kept it simple but looked dapper in his black suit.
A clip showcasing how Jill's dress was carefully crafted was shared on social media. Several netizens approved of the FLOTUS' choice of outfit for the event.
"Gorgeous! The photographs didn't do it the Justice it deserved," one commented on the dress.
Another agreed, writing, "As a lover of all bling dresses, this is gorgeous!"
"An amazing work of art! Wow!!!!" a third person added.
"Simply gorgeous expert craftsmanship. @FLOTUS looked so lovely. Bravo @OscardelaRenta," a different user remarked.
Another opined, "@FLOTUS is always gorgeous."
It's not the first time Jill was spotted rocking an outfit from Oscar de la Renta. During her husband's 2020 victory party, Jill wore a short-sleeve navy dress embroidered with flowers from the same design house, InStyle reported.
She also wore a similar look from the same designer when she graced her Vogue cover in 2021. According to The Washington Post, Jill donning an Oscar de la Renta outfit was an "expected choice" as she has been wearing the brand since 2016.
Elizabeth Alexander, Jill's communications director, told Vogue in her 2021 cover that the first lady doesn't work with a stylist. Thus, she also wears a lot of outfits from Brandon Maxwell and emerging new designers.
"I think that's important: You try to lift up other people," Jill said about her choice of outfits in the interview. "I like to choose from a diverse group of designers. When I was planning my Inauguration outfits, that's one of the things I considered."
When Jill was told about an Instagram account that shared her outfits, the FOTUS said she hadn't seen it and exclaimed, "Oh, great," while comically rolling her eyes.
"It's kind of surprising, I think, how much commentary is made about what I wear or if I put my hair in a scrunchie. I put my hair up! Or the stocking thing," Jill said.
"It's amazing how much people pay attention to every little detail."
