Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Admit To 'Insecurities' About Their Marriage Amid Divorce Rumors
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton got candid about their insecurities after tying the knot.
It's been nearly three years since Shelton and Stefani exchanged "I dos" at his ranch in Oklahoma. In an interview with Nylon, she discussed how she penned her recent duet with Shelton, "Purple Irises," her most candid song about aging and how it reflected her insecurities.
"I went from a difficult time in my life to giving birth to Apollo. Getting pregnant with him was really the start of [a series] of miracles," Stefani said. "It was almost like a restart to my life -- the second chapter."
The "Hollaback Girl" singer admitted that due to her insecurities, she sometimes created drama in her mind about her relationship with her husband.
"I had been going through those times where you're questioning: 'Oh my gosh, am I just getting older? Am I cute?'" Stefani continued. "In my own relationship, even though I know the truth of what's happening today, you still create drama in your own mind about your insecurities and what might happen. I was in that phase of the relationship with Blake and getting paranoid."
Shelton admitted that he shared the same insecurities.
"It's an insecurity we both have," Shelton said. "These are conversations that she and I have with each other: 'Are you still going to love me when I'm old or if I forget who I am?'"

The couple's new song was inspired by the purple irises growing on Shelton's Oklahoma ranch. According to the country singer, Stefani was good at planting, growing and cultivating the flowers. The thriving plants reminded the "Don't Speak" singer that her insecurities had no room in her marriage, and they were all in her head.
"The truth is I am in love with my best friend," Stefani added. "And all this s**t I'm thinking of in my brain, that's all it is -- I'm overthinking."
Stefani also shut down rumors that they were divorcing. According to her, they know the truth, and no matter what people say about their marriage, if their values are aligned, no one can get to them.
"But when you're in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us. You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship -- I mean, a week ago, we were getting divorced again or something," she explained.
"It's just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is. And so that [negativity] would never penetrate just by me being vulnerable and sharing a song that I didn't write for anybody else but myself and Blake."
