Courtney Love did not hold back when she admitted her disdain for other female artists in the industry.

During a recent interview with The Standard, the 59-year-old singer-guitarist talked about her career, her BBC series "Courtney Love's Women" and the artists she likes and dislikes.

After praising Patti Smith, Nina Simone, PJ Harvey, Julie London, Joni Mitchell and Deborah Harry, she revealed the other woman artists she "hates the idea of," including Taylor Swift, Madonna and Lana Del Rey.

"Taylor is not important. She might be a safe space for girls, and she's probably the Madonna of now, but she's not interesting as an artist. And she's even tiring a little of Lana Del Rey," the "Mono" singer stated.

Interestingly, she spoke highly of the "1989" artist in a belated birthday greeting post in December 2021.

Back then, Love described Taylor as an "aspirational huge role model for many young women" and her "occasional hair twin/neighbor."

Following her new statement, some fans quickly commented on her old post and called her a "snake."

She seemed to also like the "Summertime Sadness" artist at the beginning but one cover changed her thoughts about her.

"I haven't liked Lana since she covered a John Denver Song, and I think she should really take seven years off. Up until 'Take Me Home, Country Roads,' I thought she was great," Love said, bringing up Lana's cover of Denver's original hit in December.

"When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much."

Meanwhile, talking about her dislike for Madonna, she said, "I don't like her, and she doesn't like me. I loved 'Desperately Seeking Susan,' but for the city of New York as much as her."

"Desperately Seeking Susan" was a 1985 film starring Madonna and Rosanna Arquette. The comedy-drama film set in New York City followed the story of a housewife (Arquette) who became obsessed with a woman named Susan (Madonna), whose boyfriend (Robert Joy) always left her messages in the newspaper's personal ads section.

Love rose to fame as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Hole, an alternative rock band. She was a figure in the alternative and grunge scene in the 1990s.

She also drew public attention when she married Nirvana's frontman Kurt Cobain in February 1992. Before entering a romantic relationship with Cobain, she was married to Leaving Trains vocalist James Moreland in July 1989. However, they separated just a few months later.

In 2020, Love received the NME Icon Award for being "one of the most influential figures in the past 30 years of alternative culture."
