New York Knicks Latest News: J.R. Smith Removes Bandages From Knee and Talks Rehab [VIDEO]
In an interview with NBA.com Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith said his rehab for his surgically repaired knee is coming along well.
Smith said that he's removed the bandages from his knee and is now focused on strengthening it. The 27-year-old said he is itching to get back unto the court and has to practice restraint when his brother, and former Knick tryout Chris Smith, takes to the hardwood to practice his shooting.
During the interview, Smith praised the addition of Metta World Peace to the Knicks' roster. The 2012-2013 NBA Sixth Man of the Year said Peace's experience in crucial games and his ability to guard multiple positions on the court make him a valued asset on New York's roster.
"Metta is a big-shot maker and a lockdown defender one through five [positions]," Smith said. "He's undoubtedly going to help us out a lot."
Smith said he's also a fan of Andrea Bargnani, who signed with the Knicks in July as part of a trade that sent Steve Novak and Marcus Camby to the Toronto Raptors.
"He's got a lot of talent, and I don't think he's put all of it on display yet," Smith said of the big man who hails from Spain.
NBA.com interviewed Smith in LAKEWOOD, N.J. on Thursday, where he was hosting a golf tournament to benefit his youth foundation.
"Really, today is a great chance for me to give back, and seeing all my family and my friends here, it gives me a chance to just appreciate everything we've gone through to get here," Smith told Slam magazine.
