Aaron Hernandez’s Ex-Fiancée Reacts After Unflattering Jokes About Him At Netflix’ Tom Brady Roast: ‘Cruel World’
Aaron Hernandez's ex-fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins, spoke up after several references were made about him at Netflix's live event on Sunday.
Tom Brady and other comedians made fun of the late NFL player on Netflix's live special "The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady." Jenkins made it known that she wasn't happy about them taking light of his story.
"It's sad that I'm trying to raise my children in such a cruel world," she told TMZ.
She added that even if the late Patriots star was gone, she had been raising their 11-year-old daughter. Their only child is now a preteen, and Jenkins is concerned that she will see the unflattering jokes about her father from grown-up men who find amusement in Hernandez's death.
Brady, Julian Edelman and Nikki Glaser were among those who joked about Hernandez during the program.
"Give it up for zero-time Super Bowl champion Randy Moss," Glaser said, per E! News. "Why don't you have a ring? What the hell, man, you're one of the best ever. Drew Bledsoe has a ring. Aaron Hernandez had a ring...around his neck."
"Everyone always asks me how big Gronk's d**k is," former wide receiver Edelman shared, referring to teammate Rob Gronkowski. "Now, don't get me wrong, it gets the job done. But there was this other Patriots tight end. Now he was hung."
Brady also tried to score with a quip at his late teammate.
"The bar for a Patriots tight end was pretty low back then," he said. "Block. Catch. Don't murder."
Hernandez, a tight end, played for three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the New England Patriots before he was convicted of life in prison in April 2015 for the murder of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd in 2013.
On April 19, 2017, he was found dead in his prison cell. He hanged himself, and his death was ruled a suicide, Reuters reported.
His death came five days after he was acquitted of double murder charges in the deaths of two men outside Boston in 2012. At the time, he was serving a life sentence for Lloyd's murder and was not eligible for parole, per People.
"The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady" streams on Netflix starting May 5.
