Met Gala 2024 Red Carpet: 8 Worst Dressed Celebrities Of The Night
Celebrities and personalities in the entertainment and fashion industry gathered again on Monday for this year's Met Gala to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.
While the red carpet at The Met saw stunning looks that matched the event's theme "The Garden of Time" and the exhibition "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," it also witnessed some fashion fails and outfits that seemed a bit out of place.
Here's a list of some of the worst-dressed celebrities at this year's gala.
1. Doja Cat
The "Kiss Me More" artist had a bold outfit choice for this year's Met Gala. She arrived at the event in a soaking wet floor-length white t-shirt. It was completely see-through that she needed to cover her chest with her hands.
"...I wanted to do a white t-shirt because it's timeless and it felt very poetic to choose this. And, I knew I wasn't going to blend in too much. I don't really like to blend in," she told ET, explaining her look.
2. Amelia Gray Hamlin
The 22-year-old model walked the red carpet wearing a yellow Jun Takahashi light-up terrarium dress.
While many saw it as "the rose in the glass from 'Beauty and the Beast,'" others said it's "giving fish tank." One also wondered about how she's going to sit with her outfit.
3. Lana Del Rey
Fresh off headlining at Coachella, the "Summertime Sadness" artist walked the red carpet in a custom Alexander McQueen beige gown designed by Seán McGirr paired with odd-looking clog shoes.
While she looked like a forest nymph with her tree branch headpiece and bodice and beige mesh veil, she kept "whacking" the other personalities at the event with her outfit.
4. J. Harrison Ghee
The 34-year-old Broadway star went extra for the red carpet by wearing a pink and blue gown with a giant bow that resembled the wings of a huge butterfly. They even wore a headpiece that looked like the insect's antenna.
However, Ghee's outfit did not seem to get a nod from the netizens as some commented that it looked like a "yassified roach," "blue alien" and "a hot mess," among many others.
5. Jordan Roth
The Jujamcyn Theaters president took the garden theme too literally and arrived on the red carpet covered in origami-like flowers.
"He looks like a flower wall you take a photo in front of at a party," one netizen commented on his look.
6. Jessica Serfaty Michel
Like Roth, the "Days of Our Lives" star went a little too floral for her red carpet look. She wore a multi-colored flower-filled cape over her neon pink dress and gloves, which was reportedly inspired by "Dolce & Gabbana garden in bloom."
"1/10," one netizen rated her outfit, while another tweeted: "She took the theme a little too serious[ly]."
7. Jill Kargman
The "Odd Mom Out" creator upcycled her 21-year-old wedding dress and arrived at the event in a Tim Burton-inspired black and white lacy ensemble.
While the idea of upcycling an old dress was creative and resourceful, her outfit does not seem fitting for the garden-themed event. Some netizens said it looked better if the event was Halloween-themed and commented that it looked "scary," "demonic" and "awful."
8. Dua Lipa
The "Levitating" hitmaker arrived at the gala in a black and white ensemble adorned with lace and feathers. She somehow stood out thanks to the lace cover-up for her white corset that had flower embroideries on it. However, her outfit looked more fitting for the Moulin Rouge stage or a Victoria's Secret fashion show.
"I thought the front of her corset was a pad sticking out! LOL," commented one netizen on X.
