Ben Affleck's One Demand From Jennifer Lopez After Reconciliation Resurfaces Amid Divorce Rumors
Ben Affleck had one demand or condition when he reunited with Jennifer Lopez, according to a report.
Affleck, 51, and Lopez, 54, have become the subject of divorce rumors just two months shy of their second wedding anniversary. Affleck's one request from his wife resurfaced amid their alleged marital strife. The "Batman" actor reportedly refused to broadcast their romance on social media.
"Getting back together, I said, 'Listen, one of the things I don't want is a relationship on social media," Affleck said in Lopez's documentary "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," the New York Post reported.
"Then I sort of realized it's not a fair thing to ask. It's sort of like you're going to marry a boat captain and (you're like), 'Well, I don't like the water.'"
The outlet noted how the "Let's Get Loud" singer would often share intimate photos of them kissing or cuddling when they were on vacation on social media. She also posted glimpses of things they did together, like when they were driving or discussing stuff at home.
An insider also claimed that among the couple's differences was how they handle the spotlight -- Lopez reportedly loves the attention, while her husband is more reserved.
"They'll never stop loving each other, but she can't control him, and he can't change her. There's no way it could have lasted," the unnamed source, who claimed they were headed for divorce, told In Touch.
Affleck was reportedly "taken aback" when he saw his wife sharing his love letters for her in the documentary. Lopez acknowledged that he wasn't comfortable being her muse, but he remained supportive of her because he loved her.
"I don't think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing all of this," Lopez said in the documentary.
"But he loves me, he knows I'm an artist, and he's gonna support me in every way he can because he knows you can't stop me from making the music I made... he doesn't want to stop me. But that doesn't mean he's comfortable being the muse."
In the same documentary, the couple who first dated in the early 2000s admitted they canceled their 2003 wedding due to the obsessive media attention. Lopez publicizing their love story in the documentary was her way of turning the table by sharing about their romance from her perspective.
"Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding," Lopez said. "We had a big wedding planned -- 14 ushers and bridesmaids, and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure."
Affleck and Lopez reunited in 2021 after she called off her engagement to Alex Rodriguez, nearly two decades after they split. They eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022 and married again in front of their friends and family in his 35-hectare estate in Georgia a month later.
