Former UFC flyweight fighter Geane Herrera passed away in a tragic vehicular accident over the weekend. He was 33.

Herrera, known by his nickname "La Pulga," met a motorcycle accident at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Gandy Bridge in Tampa, Florida.

The Florida Deptartment of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles told TMZ Herrera crashed his bike into the back of another vehicle at a "very high rate of speed" before crashing into a concrete barrier.

Authorities said the fighter, who also fought in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), was thrown hundreds of feet, while his motorcycle burst into flames.

Herrera was pronounced dead at the scene. He died just nine days before his 34th birthday.

The news of his passing was confirmed by a family member through a comment on Herrera's Instagram account.

"It is with a heavy heart that I am sharing the tragic news of our beloved Geane Carlos Herrera who has passed away. His loss has left a huge void in our hearts," Michelly Herrera wrote in a comment.

"We are all struggling to come to terms with this tragedy. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time."

The MMA community expressed sorrow over his passing, with fans and fellow fighters taking to social media to honor his memory and extend their condolences to his family.

"He was a good guy, my prayers are with him and his family during this tough time," MMA fighter Ray Borg wrote on Instagram, BBC reported.

Herrera made his UFC debut in a loss against Borg in 2015. During his run in the Dana White-led promotion, he compiled a record of 1-3.

He then joined BKFC in 2021, winning his first match against Abdiel Velazquez by TKO in the second round.

In his entire professional career, he had a record of 10 wins and 3 losses.

Herrera is survived by his son.
