Jennifer Lopez Is 'Doubtful' Of Herself But Goes Wrong When Not Following Her Instincts Amid Ben Affleck Divorce
Jennifer Lopez got candid about her character in her new sci-fi action thriller movie "Atlas."
Lopez, 54, attended the premiere of "Atlas" at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday. Her husband, Ben Affleck, who is rumored to be living separately from her, was noticeably missing. In an exclusive interview with People at the event, she shared how she could relate to her character, Atlas Shepherd, "a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence."
"We are so different because she's like ... doesn't wear any of her emotions. She's so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes," Lopez told the outlet.

"But at the same time, we are both very strong and sure of what they feel. At times. She was very sure. She was like, 'This is what's happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.' And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit."
The "Let's Get Loud" singer also shared her reliance on her "instincts" when making decisions. According to Lopez, she tends to make wrong choices when she strays from her gut feeling.
"I'm very sure of what I want and sometimes I'm not. Sometimes I'm very doubtful of myself, but I follow my instincts more than anything and I find that when I go against that, is when I go wrong," Lopez continued.
Lopez's co-stars, Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown, were also present at the premiere in Los Angeles. However, many wondered why Affleck didn't join her amid the divorce rumors. Despite the rumored marital strife, Lopez wore her wedding ring on the red carpet.
Lopez and Affleck were last seen together on Sunday when they were spotted leaving the Aero Theatre in Brentwood, Los Angeles, in the same vehicle. They put on a united front and were photographed smiling.
However, body language expert Judi James pointed out the lack of affection during the outing. She also said that the "Gone Girl" actor looked "exasperated" and his smile appeared "performed." Additionally, there was a noticeable "barrier" between the celebrity couple when they walked side by side.
"In this pose, there is no hand-holding or mutual, authentic smiling that might suggest a 'denial' appearance to show they are still the loving and close couple fans hope them to be," James said.
