What Is Diddy's ’25/75’ Dating Rule? Rapper Admits Girlfriends Would ‘Hate’ Him For Cheating
An old video of Sean "Diddy" Combs talking about his "25/75" rule in relationships resurfaced online amid the sexual assault, abuse and violence allegations against him.
The Bad Boy Records founder is facing scrutiny from social media users again after his old interview with "The Breakfast Club" resurfaced online and went viral. In less than a day since The Neighborhood Talk uploaded the clip on Instagram, it has already gained over 992,000 views on the platform.
In the interview, he talked about his dating rule and compared it to a pie. Per his statement, dating him is 75% great but the remaining 25% comes with being cheated on and lied to.
"If I'm in a relationship with you, 25 percent of your time, you're gonna feel like, 'Aww, man. I hate being here. I hate this guy. Oh man, he cheated on me. He lied to me. Ah. That's 25 percent," he explained.
"But then, there's 75 percent of I'm gonna make you the happiest woman in the whole wide world. I'm gonna be there to support your dreams. I'm gonna be there to hold you, listen to you. I'm gonna be there to be your best friend, and I promise you'll smile the most."
"You know who I am. This is what it is. 25 percent. 75 percent. Which deal would you choose?" he added.
Many social media users criticized Diddy over his "25/75" rule and left negative comments on the post.
"He should be embarrassed as a grown a** man saying some dumb s**t like that," commented one social media user.
"His son looks so uneasy while he's saying this," wrote another user, pointing out that his son King, who was with him during the interview, looked uncomfortable.
"This is honestly sad. You could see how uncomfortable his son was," added someone else.
"So you beat on her 25% of the time and take her on shopping sprees the other 75%. Got it," quipped another person.
"Now it's a 25/75% chance you going to PRISON," commented a different person.
"And to just think, if Cassie didn't speak up about him he would still be out here hurting not only women but men too. It's time for Diddy to pay," another comment read.
In a longer copy of the old interview, the host responded to the "Bad Boy for Life" artist's statement, saying, "Guys, don't try this at home."
"Honestly, this is a different type of marriage. Let's go into the new time, a different type of marriage," Diddy responded back.
The female host then asked him what it would be like if a woman gave him a "25/75" deal as well.
"If she could promise me the same 5% of the time, I'll take that... I only speak for me," he said.
The host also asked him if he could forgive a woman for cheating.
"Yeah. I've had to... We do it as men... You know, nobody's perfect and we [are] lying to ourselves if we don't think that. They [women] make mistakes like we make mistakes. They have desires. They have lusts and things like that," he told the host.
"I've been cheated on before and, you know, I would forgive somebody if they were really sorry."
