Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt's Daughter Shiloh Seeks To Remove 'Pitt' From Surname On Her 18th Birthday
Shiloh, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is seeking a name change.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Jolie and Pitt, has reportedly initiated legal proceedings to eliminate "Pitt" from her surname. According to sources familiar with the matter as well as documents obtained by PEOPLE, the teenager is officially petitioning for a new name, aspiring to be known solely as "Shiloh Jolie."
On Shiloh's 18th birthday, which fell on May 27, the paperwork for the name change was officially submitted. TMZ was the first to report this development.
Jolie and Pitt, who share a total of six children, including Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox, and Vivienne, have been at the center of attention for their family dynamics.
Shiloh is not the sole child of Jolie and Pitt to display a preference for a different name. In the Playbill for the musical 'The Outsiders,' which Jolie's daughter Vivienne contributed to as a producer, the teenager is credited as "Vivienne Jolie" instead of "Vivienne Jolie-Pitt," as confirmed by PEOPLE.
It remains uncertain if Vivienne has pursued a legal name change akin to Shiloh's recent action.
Last November, during her induction into the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College, Zahara, the former couple's eldest daughter, introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie," as depicted in a video shared by Essence magazine.
These apparent alterations in names come against a backdrop of reported strains in Pitt's relationship with his children following Jolie's 2016 divorce filing and her pursuit of sole physical custody.
In August 2022, a source close to Pitt informed PEOPLE that the actor, 60, was aspiring to mend his relationship with his children amidst the ongoing custody dispute with Jolie, expressing that the situation had been emotionally challenging for years.
