Ben Affleck Turns To 'Sensible' Ex Jennifer Garner Amid Marital Crisis But Jennifer Lopez Wants Her To 'Stay Away': Report
Ben Affleck was making his wife, Jennifer Lopez, all the more furious by confiding in his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, amid their troubled relationship, according to a source.
Affleck and Lopez's rumored marital strife has been making the headlines in the past weeks. Although they were still seen together, most recently on Thursday at his daughter Violet's graduation festivities, the speculations that they were having problems in their marriage never stopped. An unnamed source also claimed that the "Let's Get Loud" singer was not happy about her husband turning to his ex-wife for support amid their issues.
"Everyone knows that Ben and Jen remained very close after their divorce. He confides in Jen about everything, even his issues with J.Lo," a source told In Touch. "J.Lo hates that Ben goes back to his sensible, down-to-earth ex-wife for advice and emotional support. She doesn't want Jen's input."
Lopez allegedly made it known to the "Gone Girl" actor that she didn't want to get his ex involved in their problem. Affleck reportedly relayed the message to Garner.
"J.Lo didn't come right out and tell Jen to back off -- both women have been down this road before and know their boundaries -- but she did tell Ben that his ex needs to stay away from him and butt out of their personal drama," the source continued. "Ben then relayed the message to Jen."
Affleck and Garner tied the knot in 2005. They split 10 years later but remained amicable as they co-parent their three children -- Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. From time to time, the exes still reunite for various activities, especially when it involves their kids.
Earlier this month, Affleck and Garner were seen together on Mother's Day weekend. They spent the day with their two kids, Violet and Samuel. Fin was noticeably missing during the family reunion.
There was no bad blood between Affleck and Garner despite their decision to part ways. In 2017, two years after they decided to split, Garner persuaded Affleck to seek help for his drinking problem, and in a statement he released post-rehab, he acknowledged her contribution to his improvement.
"I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do," Affleck said, per the Mirror. "The support I have received from my family, colleagues, and fans means more to me than I can say."
In an interview with Howard Stern in December 2021, when Affleck was promoting his film "The Tender Bar," the "Batman" actor shared that he felt "trapped" in his marriage and started drinking alcohol. However, he reiterated his "love and respect" for Garner.
"The truth was, we took our time, we made a decision, we grew apart," Affleck told Stern. "We had a marriage that did not work. This happens. It is somebody I love and respect, but to whom I should not be married any longer."
