Eminem's latest single, "Houdini," received a mix of praise and backlash.

The "Real Slim Shady" singer dropped his newest track on Friday. The song mentioned Megan The Stallion, which raised several eyebrows because her fans felt that the 51-year-old rapper was referencing the 2020 shooting incident involving Tory Lanez and the "Savage" hitmaker.

"If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat? / I don't know but I'm glad to be back," Eminem sings in his newest track.

The mere mention of "shot at a feat" and Megan's name convinced many that Eminem meant Lanez shooting Megan's foot. Many were not happy because the incident was traumatic for the 29-year-old female rapper. Several said it was "unprovoked and unnecessary."

"WEIRD. Making a joke out of someone's trauma? Megan literally got sh0t on both her feet, and she has been depressed. It's giving anti-blk," one commented.

"Yeah, this was disgusting, especially coming from a grown man. [J]ust unnecessary," another added.

Many also accused Eminem of using Megan to stay relevant. They claimed he mentioned the "Cognac Queen" artist because she was popular.

"Using her name for likes and views," one social media user said.

A second person wrote, "Rap men using Megan for relevancy tells me everything I need to know; Megan is the new queen of rap."

"He needs attention so bad," a third user opined.

Despite the backlash, many also defended Eminem. According to them, what the "Rap God" artist did wasn't new at all because he also previously mentioned other artist's names in his previous songs.

"Eminem, one of those rappers who can say whatever he wants, you can't cancel him," one fan wrote.

Another supporter said, "Eminem is the greatest rapper alive. Megan should be happy and maybe throw a party since Eminem mentioned her name."

"Well, Eminem usually mentions other artists in his songs, what's new?" a different person remarked.

"I don't understand why people are saying this is a shot at her. He's saying would he have a shot at a feature. What's the big deal?" another asked.

On Aug. 20, 2020, Megan claimed that Lanez shot her in the foot following a pool party at Kylie Jenner's house on July 12 that year. In an Instagram Live, she also alleged that Lanez's publicist intentionally attempted to spread false information about the incident.

"Yes, this n***a Tory shot me," Megan said in the video, per Vulture.

During the 2022 felony assault trial of Lanez, Megan admitted how traumatic the incident was for her.

"I'm having a really difficult time sitting up here telling my story and having to sit across [from] people who have made up lies about me and having to [sit] across from Tory," Megan said, per People.

"I try to be strong. I don't like to look weak. I don't want to give them the power that they've taken from me for the last three years."

She recalled that when Lanez started shooting, she put her head down because "I was scared." The "HISS" rapper added she didn't move, but she remembered him telling her, "Dance b***h."

When she turned to him, he reportedly started shooting again. When the officers arrived, Megan's fears grew because they had guns, and she was scared that they would also shoot her.

"Nobody cared I was bleeding. Felt like I don't matter," an emotional Megan said while sharing her reaction when the officers arrived, handcuffed her and put her on a gurney. "Nobody cares what is happening to me right now."

In August 2023, three years after Megan voiced the allegation, a judge sentenced Lanez to 10 years in prison for the shooting incident. He began his prison sentence on Sept. 14 of the same year after his motion for bond was denied.
