Here's How Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Celebrated Princess Lilibet's 3rd Birthday
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle kicked off celebrations for their daughter Princess Lilibet's third birthday over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex held a pre-birthday bash for Princess Lilibet at their mansion in Montecito, California, People reported.
Prince Harry and Markle -- who also share 5-year-old son Prince Archie -- invited family members, friends and Princess Lilibet's pals to celebrate their daughter turning 3 on Tuesday.
Last month, the Sussexes celebrated Prince Archie's fifth birthday privately before Markle and Prince Harry headed to Nigeria for a three-day visit.
While their two children did not join them on the trip, Markle talked about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet during a visit to a school in Nigeria's capital Abuja.
Markle told the young students that her daughter's "favorite class" involved "singing and dancing," probably because of "all the jumping around," according to People.
She also shared that her son liked construction as students showed them their robotic projects.
While discussing mental health, the Duchess of Sussex detailed an emotional conversation she had with Princess Lilibet.
"Our daughter, Lili, she's much, much tinier than you guys. She's about to turn 3. And a few weeks ago she looked at me and she would just see the reflection in my eyes. And she [goes], 'Mama, I see me in you,'" Markle told the students.
She added, "Oh, now she was talking really literally. But I hung onto those words in a very different way. And I thought, yes, I do see me in you, and you see me in you."
The last day of Prince Harry and Markle's trip fell on Mother's Day on May 12.
Markle admitted she was missing their "babies" during a brief speech at the State Governor House in Lagos that day.
"I am very, very grateful, I am very humbled, and today is Mother's Day," the duchess said, as seen in a video shared via TikTok by Arochukwu Network.
"So it feels appropriate, but though of course we are missing our children, I'm missing my babies, but it feels very appropriate to be in the motherland and amongst family," Markle added.
Markle also honored her children in another way when she and Prince Harry attended the reception at the State Governor House.
The Duchess of Sussex donned a yellow Carolina Herrera dress made for her when she was pregnant with Archie.
Markle sported the same floor-length gown in photos shared on Valentine's Day in 2021 to announce that they were expecting their second child together.
