Ray J Thinks Everything And Everybody 'Would Be Different' If Kim Kardashian Sex Tape Didn't Leak
Ray J suggested that his sex tape with Kim Kardashian had such a massive impact on culture that "everything would be different" if it never leaked.
While promoting his new single, "Throwing Stacks," Ray J discussed the potential ripple effects of his and Kardashian's infamous explicit video during his now-viral interview with Shannon Sharpe on "Club Shay Shay."
The R&B singer speculated that the world would likely be completely different if the tape that made Kardashian a household name had not been filmed in 2003 and leaked in 2007.
"How different would we all be?" Ray J asked. "How different would this whole f**king thing be? How different would this industry be? How different would the wheel roll? Everything would be different. We would all be different. All of us."
The "Love & Hip Hop" alum went on to suggest that the sex tape and the fame it brought Kardashian had an impact on fashion, education, the adult film industry and other sectors.
"Everybody in here would be different. We'd have on different clothes," he told Sharpe. "Probably more people would be going to college and getting an education to be successful. There might not be any OnlyFans and all the things like that. All the opportunities like that."
Brandy's younger brother said he was unsure whether the tape ultimately became part of the "cure" or the "disease" but claimed that he was "trying to make it right."
During their sit-down, Sharpe also asked Ray J if he felt "embarrassed" after the tape was leaked.
The singer admitted that he now regrets filming it as he's become a father to a young son, Epik Ray, and daughter, Melody Love.
"I have kids now. Everything I did now when we have kids is just totally different. The whole thing is wacky," Ray J said. "With my kids it's not OK."
Ray J and Kim, who dated from 2003 to 2006, filmed the tape while in Cabo, Mexico, to celebrate the former "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star's birthday.
It was later released by Vivid Entertainment under the title, "Kim Kardashian, Superstar."
Their sex tape and their past relationship returned to the spotlight in 2022 after Kim's ex-husband Kanye West claimed that he obtained a copy of an alleged second sex tape of the Skims mogul and Ray J.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Ray J claimed that there was unreleased footage of him and Kim but that the reality star allegedly had possession of it.
However, a rep for Kim insisted to People at the time that no other sex tape of her and Ray J exists.
