Prince Harry’s Claim King Charles And William Were ‘Menacing’ When They United Against Him Resurfaces
Prince Harry detailed how he was feeling when he saw his brother and dad amid their fractured relationship after Prince Philip's death.
Prince William and Prince Harry allegedly had a falling out even before the Sussexes quit their royal duties. However, their decision to leave the royal family worsened the sibling's relationship. Prince Harry and Markle's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 reportedly broke the relationship beyond repair. However, just weeks after the explosive interview, Prince Harry had to fly back home for his grandfather's funeral.
In Prince Harry's memoir "Spare," he admitted he was intimidated by his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, when he requested to meet with them secretly to "talk about the state of things." He even panicked when they "changed their minds" and "considered giving up" seeing them until he saw the King and heir apparent on their way to meet him at the house where his cousins, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall, had gathered.

"Then, at last, I saw them. Shoulder to shoulder, striding towards me, they looked grim, almost menacing," Prince Harry wrote, describing his dad and brother, per the Mirror. "More, they looked tightly aligned. My stomach dropped. Normally they'd be squabbling about one thing or another, but now they appeared to be in lockstep -- in league. The thought occurred: Hang on, are we meeting for a walk...or a duel?"
Prince Harry added that he felt a "hugely intense vulnerability" and was taken back to his mom, Princess Diana' 's funeral and other events in his life in the past where he developed a "kind of hyper-awareness" as he prepared to talk to them. He admitted being fearful of meeting them and even compared the family reunion to "going into battle for the first time."
In Prince Harry's book, he also detailed an alleged physical brawl with his big brother after a heated argument. He claimed that the Duke of Cambridge called him another name and attacked him.
"He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog's bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out," Prince Harry wrote in an excerpt obtained by the Guardian.
Prince William allegedly urged his younger brother to hit him back, but he refused. The Prince of Wales left but returned "looking regretful and apologised."
Royal biographer and commentator Katie Nicholl said the royal siblings are still not on speaking terms. Prince Harry also declined to attend the Duke of Westminster's wedding where Prince William was among the ushers. Some of their mutual pals also allegedly "don't talk to him [Prince Harry] out of loyalty to the royal family," leaving Prince Harry isolated.
"The reality is he's lost his place among Britain's high society," an anonymous source told In Touch. "William and Harry aren't even close to a truce. William hasn't forgiven Harry for what he said in his book."
