Yung Miami And JT Featured Individually On Camila Cabello's New Song, Rumors Of Group Breakup Intensifies
The City Girls may have officially disbanded after being featured as solo artists on the same song.
Yung Miami and JT will appear independently on Camila Cabello's new track "Dade County Dreaming."
Leading up to the solo features, both Yung Miami, born Caresha Romeka Brownlee, and JT, real name Jatavia Shakara Johnson, have been vocal in both studio sessions and interviews about the conclusion of the City Girls' joint era.
However, fans on social media are reacting strongly to the rumored disbandment. It's unclear whether Cabello's track was recorded before or after an official separation.
"Dade County Dreaming" is set to debut on June 28 as part of her album 'C, XOXO.'
Both Cabello, 27, and the former City Girls members have ties to Miami. According to 'Rolling Stone,' Cabello prominently features the 305 area code throughout her album, which consists of 14 tracks.
Drake is featured twice on Camila's LP, contributing to tracks "Hot Uptown" and "Uuugly," while Lil Nas X and Playboi Carti also join the project on "He Knows" and "I Luv It," respectively.
The City Girls arguably dominated the late 2010s and early 2020s with anthems celebrating female empowerment and financial independence.
Even during JT's federal custody stint for identity theft from June 2018 to March 2020, the duo continued to thrive. Through solo gigs, appearances, and highly anticipated releases, the pair solidified their status as household names and favorites in clubs nationwide.
Last October, JT, 31, hinted at her solo ambitions during an interview with 'Interview Magazine,' revealing the title of her upcoming debut album, 'City Cinderella.'
She has also made a deliberate effort to distinguish her solo fanbase from the City Girls' audience by referring to her supporters as the "Juvies." From March to May, JT embarked on a tour across multiple U.S. cities promoting her singles "Okay" and "Sideways."
In an interview with 'Complex,' Yung Miami, 30, candidly discussed how she and JT had found themselves in "two different spaces." She emphasized that this divergence became particularly apparent following the release of their final City Girls album, 'RAW,' in 2023.
