Reggaeton Star Don Omar Says He’s Now ‘Cancer Free' Just One Day After Announcing Diagnosis
Just one day after beloved reggaeton star Don Omar announced his battle with cancer, he declared he was "cancer free and grateful" Tuesday.
The cult-favorite Puerto Rican artist shocked his followers when he shared the news of his diagnosis by showing a hospital bracelet which said Orlando Health.
"Yes today but tomorrow I will be cancer free. Good intentions are well received. See you all soon. #f**kcancer," he stated in the initial announcement.
The Latin star shared an update with a photo of himself holding up a peace sign thanking his fans for their well wishes and messages.
"I woke up today cancer free and grateful. Thank you for your good wishes, prayers and thousands of messages. My surgery was a success now to recover," Omar, 46, penned in the caption.
His fans — many out of a whopping 11.8 million following — responded with gratitude and overwhelming positivity.
"God takes care of his great warriors, good recovery Will," one fan replied. "Amen [prayer hands emoji] I already have you in prayer and you will see that everything is going to be ok!!!! GOD IS GOOD, God is with you!!!! You're alright already!!!! We love you DON," a second enthusiastic fan responded.
Omar, born William Omar Landrón Rivera, announced he is set to bring more songs, tour dates, and cities to his upcoming 'Back to Reggaeton' US tour.
The 46-year-old rapper, singer, and songwriter — known as the "King of Reggaeton" — has been recognized by 'Billboard' and 'Rolling Stone' as a Reggaeton legend.
He has won 3 Latin Grammy Awards, 17 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 1 Billboard Music Award, 3 Lo Nuestro Awards, 8 Viña del Mar International Song Festival Awards, and 1 Guinness World Record.
