Howie Mandel Details 'Scary' Incident Finding Wife With Skull Exposed In Pool Of Blood: ‘I Freaked Out’
Howie Mandel set the record straight about his wife's recent head injury.
The 68-year-old comedian and host revealed what happened to his spouse, Terry Mandel, following her accident. Mandel clarified that she had no alcohol problem and had not been drinking but was actually high on edibles.
"She was so worried that people were going to intervene with her alcohol -- she doesn't have an alcohol problem," he said on "TMZ Live" Tuesday. "I'm going to tell you the truth: she took gummies. So, it's not an alcohol problem. She was on pot."
"I said we had a great night, we got a little tipsy, and she got out of bed in the middle of the night and fell."
Mandel first shared the story when he appeared on "Live with Kelly and Mark" the same day. He admitted that they "partied too much," and she got up at midnight, and that was when the accident happened.
"In the middle of the night, she got up, and I don't know where she was headed, but she headed into the wall. She fell and hit the wainscoting," the comedian said.
It was reportedly pitch black in their hotel room, so when Terry went down, she slipped again and injured her eye and cheek. Recounting the incident, Mandel admitted he was scared when she saw her after she fell.
"I wake up, I turn on the light and look around the bed, and she's in the corner, face down," Howie remembered. "I didn't know she cut her head, but blood is pooling. Snapped is on TV, blood is pooling out, and I freaked out."

He continued, "It was really scary. She hit that as she went down. She slipped, went down, hit that on her eye, then fell on the floor and broke her cheek."
The "America's Got Talent" judge said it was a hard fall, and it was so severe that "you could actually see her skull."
"I freaked out," he added upon remembering the sight of her face after the fall. "I picked her up, I put her on the bed. There's blood every[where]. I went and grabbed all the towels, and all the towels are covered with blood."
Mandel also showed the audience a photo of Terry from the injury. In the snap, she has a sizable gash on her forehead and a large purple bruise circling her eye.
Mandel later informed the viewers that his wife has been "doing well" since the accident and looks "incredibly perfect" without any scars.
