Remy Ma Breaks Silence On Son Jayson's First-Degree Murder Charges; Staunchly Defends His 'Innocence'
Remy Ma is speaking out after her son Jayson "Jace" Scott was arrested and charged with murder.
On Tuesday, Scott, 23, and another suspect were taken into custody in connection with the June 2021 killing of Darius Guillebeaux, 47, in New York City, police told People.
In a statement to TMZ following her son's arrest, Remy -- born Reminisce Kioni Mackie -- said that her son is innocent and that she and her family are standing by him.
"We stand by Jayson's innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth," stated the 44-year-old rapper, who previously served six years of prison time for a 2007 shooting.
She continued, "This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove Jayson's innocence."

Remy also said that though she wants to share more details about the situation, she was advised by attorney Dawn Florio, who is representing Scott, not to say anything more about the case.
"As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything -- as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case," Remy said in a statement released via Florio's law firm and obtained by TMZ.

According to the New York City Police Department, Guillebeaux was found shot at the intersection of 148 Street and Rockaway Boulevard in Queens on June 7, 2021
After receiving a 911 call, Guillebeaux was discovered by officers lying on the ground "unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest," police told People.
Guillebeaux was brought to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
At the time of the incident, local outlets described Guillebeaux as an "alleged drug kingpin."
Along with Scott, a second suspect, 22-year-old Richard Swygert, was arrested in connection with Guillebeaux's shooting death.

Scott faces charges of first- and second-degree murder, reckless endangerment in the first degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, according to authorities.
Swygert was also charged with first-degree murder, reckless endangerment in the first degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, police said.
According to TMZ, authorities are also investigating the possibility that Guillebeaux's murder was a hired hit.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
