Ben Affleck's Ex Gwyneth Paltrow Reaches Out To Help Him Amid Jennifer Lopez Divorce Rumors: Report
Ben Affleck's ex-girlfriend, Gwyneth Paltrow, sympathizes with him amid his rumored marital strife with Jennifer Lopez, according to a source.
Paltrow and Affleck dated for three years before he met and dated Lopez in the early 2000s. Decades after Paltrow and Affleck's split, the exes have remained good friends, and she's reportedly willing to be Affleck's "uncoupling" therapist amid his imminent divorce from Lopez. An insider claimed that "she is team Ben at the end of the day."
"Gwyneth has been following the situation closely and believes really strongly that she could help them by sharing some of the tools that worked for her and Chris Martin," a source told In Touch.
"People ask her for that kind of help all the time, but she's very picky about who she'll give her time to. Ben isn't just anyone, though; she's been friends with him for nearly 30 years, and she hates to see him going through this sort of pain."
The unnamed tipster added that the "Emma" star "reached out and offered to do whatever she can to help him during this difficult time." The source noted that Paltrow knew the "Batman" star was "far from perfect," but she got enough distance from the celebrity couple to act as an "impartial mediator."
"She's offered to try and help them get back on track, but if it comes down to it, she's also got the skills to help them navigate the divorce with spiritual techniques and practical advice to make it easier on them and on their kids," the insider added. "It's typical Gwyneth, she always loves to meddle, but at least her heart is in the right place."
Enstarz could not independently verify the claims.
Affleck and Paltrow met at a dinner party thrown by Harvey Weinstein in 1997. They soon began dating after she called off her engagement to Brad Pitt. The exes dated from 1997 until 2000 and starred in two films, "Shakespeare in Love" in 1998 and "Bounce" in 2000.
In a 2015 interview with Howard Stern, the Goop founder said she liked Affleck, and they remained friends.
"I like him," she told Stern, "I'm still friends with him."
Paltrow is happily married to her husband, Brad Falchuk. They tied the knot in 2018, two years after she and her ex-husband, Chris Martin, finalized their divorce.
