Meghan Markle takes the lead with a "heavy hand" when it comes to her and Prince Harry's engagements and decision-making, according to a commentator.

Esther Krakue, a British broadcaster, columnist, journalist and commentator, weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's relationship. The pair celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary last month and visited Nigeria, where they were welcomed like royals. Krakue claimed their public dynamics were the same as behind closed doors.  She believes that Prince Harry turned down King Charles' invitation for him to stay at a royal residence when he flew to the United Kingdom last month because it was what his wife allegedly wanted.

"You can definitely see a heavy hand by Meghan in a lot of the decisions they make. You see that in a lot of the way their engagements are done, she's really at the forefront and Harry's melting into the background. She leads as much in private as she does public," Krakue said on Sky News Australia, per the Mirror.

She noted how the former actress seemed to enjoy the spotlight when they attended engagements while her "very English" husband, Prince Harry, was satisfied to take the backseat.

"When they were in Nigeria it was very much Meghan centre-stage and you can understand why -- she's an actress, she's had a lot of time around celebrities and polishing her media persona, she's headstrong and seems very confident. Harry's just this run-of-the-mill very average English guy," Krakue added.

Krakue wasn't the first to claim that Markle has the upper hand in her and Prince Harry's marriage. Tom Bower, royal author and biographer, made a similar claim, even quoting Prince Harry's words.

"No one has ever doubted that Harry and Meghan do not have an equal partnership -- when Harry famously said, 'What Meghan wants Meghan gets," Bower told the Mirror.

A royal insider also made the same claim to People while noting that Markle was already "established" before she met the royal prince. The "Suits" star's leadership was allegedly among the things Prince Harry loved about her.

"She is definitely the one wearing the trousers in their relationship," the source said.  "She is a strong, opinionated woman who has her own ideas about things, and that's one of the things he loves about her."
