Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are allegedly considering returning to the United Kingdom, but doing so would only prove that their popularity in the United States has declined, according to a British socialite.

Lizzie Cundy, a British socialite, TV personality and former wife of footballer Jason Cundy, weighed in on the reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might return to the United Kingdom four years after they quit their royal duties and moved to California. Cundy said the question was whether the British people would still welcome them.

"It's kind of beggars belief because they were the ones who wanted to leave so desperately," she said on GB News.

"They wanted their own life eating avocados and doing yoga on the Californian beaches. This is a sign they have lost all popularity in the States. Who would have thought it?"

She also mentioned the rumors that Markle had plans to run for president in the U.S. According to her, "Meghan thought she was going to be the next president over there, the way she was behaving and speaking." However, Cundy felt that the Sussexes had "lost faith."

As for the possible return of the Sussexes to the U.K., Cundy said they could do so if they wanted. However, it was unclear how the locals would welcome them after the things they did against the royal family. Additionally, she is convinced that Prince Harry and Markle are finding their way back to the royals because the latter is their ticket to making money.

"I don't know how they will be welcomed back here, but they know the way they make their money is through the Royal Family," she continued. "They've lost everything to do with the Royal Family, so being back in England is the only way forward."

Cundy added that Prince Harry "could be in trouble" if Donald Trump won the presidency. The former POTUS had already said he would take "appropriate actions" over the Duke of Sussex's U.S. visa if reelected, and the latter would not get any special privileges.

Prince Harry is seemingly determined to return to his home country as he is still fighting for his security in the U.K. Also, he is reportedly looking for a new home after King Charles asked them to vacate Frogmore Cottage, their former residence in England.

Meanwhile, the former "Suits" star is reportedly willing to join Prince Harry in the U.K. under two conditions -- if they have a home of their own and security while staying there.

"Meghan has said she's only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband's relatives," royal expert and author Tom Quinn said.
