Meghan Markle, Prince Harry 'Never Cared About The Royal Protocol' After 'Ridiculous' Blunder, Expert Claims
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are aware that the timing of their activities is often compared to the royal family's calendar, according to a royal expert.
On Saturday, the Duchess of Sussex was accused of trying to steal Kate Middleton's thunder. The Princess of Wales, who had been missing from the public spotlight for months, made her return by attending Trooping the Colour. However, just hours before the event, Prince Harry and Markle's pal, Nacho Figueras, posted a photo of a new jam and dog biscuits from Markle's label, American Riviera Orchard. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams slammed the couple for the bad timing of the brand rollout.
"Megan and Harry know perfectly well every single thing they do is monitored by the press," Fitzwilliams told The Sun.
"The idea that they would do something on the day of Trooping the Colour. I mean, it's pretty silly. I mean, it is a clash of a sort. What was done was just silly. We know in March, Meghan launched American Riviera Orchard."
Fitzwilliams noted that Markle had reportedly sent 50 jars of strawberry jam to her celebrity pals and influencers. However, not many A-listers posted about it and praised how wonderful it was.
"What's so odd is that she did anything on the day of Trooping the Colour at all, it doesn't make any sense," Fitzwilliams added. "The label on the jar said two of two, if she's only going to send two jars out, what on earth is the point?"
He added," I don't think it's been thought out. This makes no public relations sense. It's ridiculous."
He went on to claim that the Sussexes never cared about royal protocol. They allegedly didn't care whether their actions would affect the royal family.
"The Sussexes have never cared about the royal protocol, that you don't have a diary clash," the royal expert said.
Fitzwilliams noted that her public relations consultants would not have advised her to do it because doing so was "something of a joke."
The royal expert added that it was "very, very odd," and if Markle just sent the jam, she should have warned their pals not to post it, otherwise, "it clearly makes them objects to mockery."
