Tiffany Haddish Told She's 'Not Submissive' But Still Dates 'Cause I Love Free Meals'
Tiffany Haddish got candid about her dating life in a recent interview.
Haddish appeared on "Today with Hoda & Jenna" to promote her new song "Woman Up." During the interview, they talked about her dating life, and co-host Jenna Bush Hager offered to be her wingwoman while Hoda Kotb asked her what she was looking for in a date.
"Recently, I was told that I'm not submissive. So, I'm gonna," Haddish said in response, but Kotb quipped, "Submissive?"
Haddish clarified her response, saying, "Men like submissive women."
"No, no, no!" Bush Hager exclaimed.
"But I am submissive, though," Haddish continued before jokingly adding, "But not with my clothes on."
The co-hosts asked her about being celibate, and the "Girls Trip" actress confirmed it, saying she has been celibate "since October." The two co-hosts laughed, with Bush Hager saying, "That's a long time."
"I think there's cobwebs down there now," Haddish said with a chuckle.
The singer-actress, however, clarified that despite being celibate, she still dates. She just avoids getting intimate with them.
"I still go on dates 'cause I love free meals," Haddish explained.
When Kotb asked if she had informed her date that she had no plans to get intimate with them, Haddish said, "No." She also shared that her dates knew she was seeing multiple people.
"They all know about each other. I tell 'em all like I'm dating multiple people. I'm not sleeping with anyone, and we'll see, like, I would like to ... but it's gotta be the right person. Sometimes these men, they reveal a little bit and you like 'ah nah, nah, can't do it," she added.
Haddish also said being sober influenced her decision.
"Sobriety keeps you from making dumb decisions. You can see all the red flags," Haddish added.
In November, Haddish was arrested in Beverly Hills for falling asleep behind the wheel. She was cited for driving under the influence, and it was her second DUI citation in two years. Following the incident, she announced that she would get help.
"I'm going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries," Haddish told Entertainment Tonight.
However, she was still able to poke fun at the incident in her comedy set at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California. When an audience member asked about what happened, she made a hilarious spin of it.
"What happened last night? Ah, damn. You tell me. I don't know," Haddish replied before jokingly adding, "I prayed to God to send me a man with a job, preferably in a uniform. God answered my prayers because God believes in me."
