Rapper Julio Foolio Shot Dead Two Days After His Birthday In A Tampa Hotel Parking Lot
Julio Foolio was fatally shot at a Tampa hotel over the weekend, authorities confirmed.
He was 26.
The Tampa Police Department disclosed that Julio Foolio, real name Charles Jones, died early Sunday at a hotel located at 11606 McKinley Drive. Police were summoned to the hotel following reports of gunfire around 4:40 a.m. ET on Sunday.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found two vehicles with gunshot damage in the parking lot and four individuals injured. One of the injured, later identified as the rapper, was pronounced dead at the scene. The three other injured individuals were taken to the hospital and are reportedly in stable condition.
Jones' lawyer, Lewis Fuso, also confirmed to the 'New York Post' that his client was the individual killed in the shooting.
The musician turned 26 on Friday and had been celebrating his birthday at the Holiday Inn after being asked to leave an Airbnb. Fuso stated that Jones was allegedly ambushed during his time at the hotel.
Jones had posted on social media a few hours before the shooting about hosting a pool party at a residence, inviting people to arrive between 6 and 6:30 PM.
On his birthday, he posted a message thanking God for allowing him to see another year and celebrating another birthday.
The Tampa Police Department is investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting and working to identify the individuals involved.
