Princess Anne Death Hoax: Netizens Feared Royal Died From Horse Incident, Neighbor 'Thought The Worst'
Princess Anne has been the most active royal for years, so her recent accident sparked concerns among the monarchy's supporters.
Princess Anne, an Olympic equestrian, got a minor injury from an incident involving a horse on Sunday, as revealed in a statement from the Palace. However, the news got out of hand, prompting some to speculate the worst -- that Princess Anne was already dead.
"Wait a second! There were no photos of Princess Anne arriving at the hospital? We heard about the news after she arrived via palace statement? Well, now that sounds like something nefarious is DEFINITELY happening, right? She must be locked up! Fled! Died! They're phasing her out!" one claimed on X, formerly Twitter.
"Shouldn't you be grieving Princess Anne getting bummed to death by a horse," another user added.
"RIP Princess Anne," someone else tweeted.
A different user commented on TikTok, saying they thought Princess Anne "died [years] ago." Other users said they were probably thinking about her aunt, Princess Margaret, or mom, Queen Elizabeth.
However, based on the Palace's official announcement, Princess Anne is alive and currently recovering from the incident.
TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan said he didn't think Princess Anne died. But the host speculated that her condition must be more serious than what the Palace reported.
"You don't really go to a hospital for a minor injury, so it's obviously quite serious!" he claimed.
Locals living near Princess Anne's residence confirmed they saw an air ambulance circling her house. One man said the air ambulance landed at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday and it circled from around 9:23 p.m. The neighbor said he immediately thought of the Royal Princess amid the health scare and admitted that he "thought the worst."
"I saw an air ambulance landing on her estate and I thought, 'Oh my goodness, I hope it's not Anne,'" the local said, per the New York Post. "And then the police helicopter started circling about ten minutes later and I thought the worst."
"I thought something awful must have happened, and I was worried a criminal might be on the loose, but the police helicopter was off pretty quickly. The air ambulance was on the ground for about 40 minutes I think -- I'm not sure if it took her to hospital but didn't look like it did as it flew off the other way," Princess Anne's neighbor continued. "I really hope she's going to be okay."

Buckingham Palace released a statement about the condition of King Charles' younger sister on Monday.
According to the Palace, she sustained "minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park" Sunday evening. She is still in the hospital but is expected to recover soon.
"Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery," the statement continued.
"The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery."
The Princess Royal will miss nine engagements in the coming week, according to the Daily Mail. Among the activities she would miss would be the royal visit to Canada.
Meanwhile, several fans and supporters poured their well-wishes for Princess Anne on social media. Many prayed for her speedy recovery.
"Can we send get well wishes and love to Princess Anne who has suffered minor injuries and concussion and is recovering and resting in hospital," one wrote on X.
"Princess Anne, the toughest member of the Royal Family, was injured by one of her beloved horses while on an evening walk at her home yesterday. She is in hospital but expected to make a full recovery -- and I expect she will be back riding soon. She will hate all this fuss," New Zealand-British journalist and presenter Dan Wootton wrote, along with a photo of Princess Anne in uniform riding a horse.
"I wish HRH all the best. Must have been quite a bang for this indomitable lady to allow herself to be hospitalised," TV presenter and broadcaster Piers Morgan wrote.
Princess Anne has been the hardest-working royal for years. In 2023, she carried out the most number of engagements. The 73-year-old royal attended 457 engagements, making her the most industrious royal for the third year running, per People.
Princess Anne is not the first royal to fall victim to a death hoax. Other royal family members have been subjected to malicious stories claiming their untimely demise in the past. Even the late Queen Elizabeth II was not spared from false narratives claiming her death way before she passed away in September 2022.
