Pierce Brosnan's Estranged Son Christopher Makes Rare Public Outing Nearly 20 Years After He Cut Him Off
Pierce Brosnan's son, Christopher Brostan, made a rare public outing nearly two decades after the actor "cut off" the latter, according to a report.
In the photos obtained by Page Six, Christopher, 51, was captured on camera walking while holding a reusable Waitrose bag. He wore a red hoodie underneath an olive green puffer vest. He paired his top with navy blue joggers and gray Converse sneakers. He also sported a navy blue flat cap, which he wore backward.
Christopher is the son of Pierce's late wife, Cassandra Harris, with her ex-husband Dermot Harris. The "James Bond" actor adopted Christoper and his late sister, Charlotte Brosnan, in 1986 after their dad, Dermot, died. Pierce and Cassandra share one biological child, Sean Brosnan, 40. Pierce is also a dad to sons Paris, 23, and Dylan, 27, whom he shares with his wife, Keely Shaye Smith.
Christopher's mom passed away in 1991 after a battle with ovarian cancer. His sister, Charlotte, also passed away from ovarian cancer in 2013. She was 41.
Christopher's drug abuse, overdose and run-ins with the law force forced his dad to distance himself from him, per Page Six. Pierce spoke about Christopher and the latter's struggles in an interview with Playboy magazine in 2005.
"Christopher is still very lost. Shockingly so. I know where he is, but he's having a hard life," the "Tomorrow Never Dies" actor said.
"I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover. He has tested everybody in this family but none more so than himself. He knows how to get out. He doesn't want to."
The "GoldenEye" star said it was "painful," but the ordeal caused him to "shut down."
"You never completely cut them off," he added, "but I have cut Christopher off. I had to say, 'Go. Get busy living, or get busy dying.' He has my prayers."
The dad of five told Gentleman's Journal in 2021 that he cherished fatherhood because he grew up without a father figure. He also spoke about how much he loved his family.
"I cherish family very much," Pierce said. "I cherish being a father. I did not grow up with a father figure or with a solid family. There was deep fracture, a certain isolation and aloneness, which wielded the wonderful power of my imagination. I had to get by on my own sensing and intuition. So I value and love the family."
On Father's Day, Pierce shared a snap of him holding a pot of Sunflower. In the caption, he paid tribute to his family for their love.
"Thank you dear family for filling my life with your love. You give me wings to fly. I love you all dearly. It was a joyful Father's Day. Photo by @keelyshayebrosnan," he wrote in the caption.
On the same occasion in 2022, Pierce mentioned all his sons, including Christopher.
"My love forever to you dear sons, Paris, Dylan, Sean and Christopher, thank you deeply for your love [red heart emoji.] on this Father's Day," he captioned the post.
