Zac Efron's appearance has become a hot topic of discussion again after photos and clips from his newly released Netflix movie surfaced online.

One of the Instagram-uploaded videos is a behind-the-scenes clip showing the "High School Musical" alum filming for his new movie, "A Family Affair," with Joey King and Nicole Kidman. Seeing a significant change in his appearance -- specifically his jawline -- in the clip, fans wondered what happened to him.

"Why do you look exactly like Kyle (sic) Jenner? Only your lips move," commented one IG user.

"Did Zac Efron have a botched plastic surgery job?" tweeted a social media user on X, formerly Twitter.

"I'm sorry but whoever did Zac Efron's Botox or whatever redo he had to do with his face botched him real bad. He should get reimbursed for it 'cause girl, where the f**k is Troy Bolton? He looks 50 years older," said another.

"Woah, did Zac Efron have botched plastic surgery or something? What happened to his face?" asked someone else.

Meanwhile, others came to the actor's defense and reiterated that he needed to get reconstructive surgery after a severe injury.

"I can't imagine how Zac Efron feels whenever people talk about his face... like imagine having to get reconstructive surgery after a severe jaw injury and everyone thinks it's a botched cosmetic surgery," remarked an X user.

"The need to comment on people's looks is wild. He had to have surgery on his face after an accident so probably doesn't need to be constantly reminded of it by these weird and intrusive comments," wrote someone else on Instagram.

"The man broke his jaw and still looks great. Find something else to talk about," suggested a different commenter.

In a September 2022 interview, the "Iron Claw" star addressed the plastic surgery rumors surrounding him and revealed that he actually broke his jaw in 2018.

He said his chin bone was left "hanging off of his face" after running in his home with his socks on and slipping and hitting his face on the corner of a granite fountain. To treat his broken jaw, he was required to undergo physical therapy.

But because he had to film "Down to Earth with Zac Efron" at the time, he had to stop his treatment. This reportedly resulted in the enlargement of some muscles in his face.

"The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big," he said.
