Kobold did not attempt to cover the tracks of his February 2024 murder. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they were met with a chilling confession.
According to 'The New York Post,' Kobold quickly approached the officers, stating unequivocally that he had "killed somebody." He then led the authorities to his mother, who was critically injured. She was rushed to the hospital. According to reports, the son asked to be handcuffed. The victim suffered brain damage before succumbing to her injuries two days later.
While the confession was immediate, Kobold still awaits trial. He is currently in police custody and will be tried soon in Indiana.

Kobold originally intended to defend himself in court, stating plainly that the "only person who can explain what happened and why it happened is myself." In April, he was appointed a public defender.
Kobold reportedly suffered from severe mental health issues in the past and has been admitted to two different mental health facilities. He has also worked with five different therapists.
