Gia Allemand Dead of Apparent Suicide: 'Bachelor' Alum Hanged Herself, Boyfriend Ryan Anderson Reacts
The Bachelor star Gia Allemand was declared brain dead, E! News announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that Allemand hanged herself on Monday, Aug. 12, at her home in New Orleans, where she was found by boyfriend Ryan Anderson, a player for the NBA Pelicans. (TMZ was first to report the cause of death.)
The 29-year-old model, who appeared on season 14 of the hit reality series, attempted to take her own life, leading to critical loss of brain and organ function, Radar Online reported.
According to TMZ, she was extremely upset about her rocky relationship with longtime boyfriend. The reality star was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans on Monday night.It was later revealed that the brunette was placed on life support and had her mother and boyfriend by her side. She was taken off life support on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the 28-year-old model's publicist released the following statement: "Gia Allemand was taken to University Hospital, New Orleans last night following a serious emergency medical event, the details of which are currently not known. She is listed in critical condition."
"Ms. Allemand's mother is with her, along with her long-term boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans," the statement continued. "On behalf of the family, we kindly ask for privacy at this time."

Following the news of her passing, her boyfriend released a statement.
"I'm deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends, and fans," her boyfriend said on Wednesday evening. "Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out, and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile."
"She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed," he continued. "All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith, and love that we shared."
The reality star appeared on 2010's season 14 of The Bachelor with Jake Pavelka. After being elimination from the final three, she joined the season one cast of Bachelor Pad.
