'Devil Wears Prada' Sequel Plot Revealed: Miranda Priestly Will Face Off With Now-Luxury Exec Emily
"The Devil Wears Prada" is officially getting a sequel, and this time, it's Miranda vs. Emily.
Puck broke the news Monday that a follow-up to the 2006 hit movie "Devil Wears Prada" is currently in the works at Disney.
Original director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna are in talks to work on the sequel, unnamed insiders told Deadline.
Oscar winner Wendy Finerman, the producer of the original film, is developing and producing the upcoming movie.
No cast member has been announced for the sequel as of this writing.
The first "Devil Wears Prada" movie -- which was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name -- followed Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), who is hired as an assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the editor-in-chief of the fictional magazine Runway.
While struggling with her role and acclimating to the fashion industry, Andy meets Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), Miranda's other assistant, and Nigel (Stanley Tucci), the magazine's art director.

As for the plot of the "Devil Wears Prada" sequel, Puck suggested that it may focus on Miranda facing difficulties operating Runway amid traditional magazine publishing's decline.
Miranda would face off against her former assistant Emily, who would now be a high-powered executive for a luxury group that advertises with the magazine.
It is unclear if any of the original cast will return for the sequel, but Hathaway seemingly suggested earlier this year that she has no interest in doing a follow-up.
In March, the Oscar-winning actress told E! News, "I don't think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen."
Hathaway said that she doesn't think "The Devil Wears Prada" needs a sequel and that she would much rather "make something else" with Blunt, Streep and director Frankel.
"The reason that movie felt so special was that we were a team and we did that work, but really it's the love that everybody pours to it," she explained, addressing the ongoing fan support for the hit film.
Hathaway went on to say that fans "don't need to worry about a sequel."
"Let's just keep the thing that we all agree with love," the actress said.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" has not yet begun filming, so fans will have to wait a while to see it on the big screen.
