President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday evening, just a day after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Biden spoke in a nationally televised speech from the White House, calling on all Americans to "lower the temperature in politics" following what is believed to be an attempt to assassinate Trump, the Republican presidential candidate.

"My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics," Biden said.

"Do remember, while we may disagree, we are not enemies. We're neighbors, we're friends, coworkers, citizens, and most importantly, we are fellow Americans. We must stand together."

Biden also revealed that he has spoken with the former president and was "grateful" to know Trump is doing well.

The speech, which lasted a little over six minutes, mostly went smoothly without a hitch. However, toward the end of his address, the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate stumbled over some words and seemingly had to stop himself from saying Trump's famous slogan, "Make America Great Again."

"So tonight, I'm asking every American to recommit to make America so ... to make America ... to, think about it, what's made America so special?" Biden said, seemingly catching himself mid-speech.

Several social media users noticed the gaffe and took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts.

"I think he almost said, 'make America great again' but caught himself," one user wrote.

"He wanted to say 'Make America Great Again' so bad," another said.

"MAGA" has been synonymous with Trump and his previous and current presidential campaigns. The slogan has also been emblazoned on many of his merchandise.

Following the shooting at the Republican's Pennsylvania rally on Saturday that left one man dead, two others injured and the former president with a bleeding ear, many supporters have shown worry for the former president's health and safety.

X and Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on his account that he hoped for the 78-year-old business mogul-turned-politician's "rapid recovery."

"I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery," he wrote.

As for Biden, his campaign said they would pull down all ads targeting Trump in light of the recent incident.
