Steve Harvey Reveals 'Threat,' 'Ultimatum' From Wife Marjorie That Led To Marriage In Resurfaced Video
Steve Harvey was given a "soft threat" and "ultimatum" by his now-wife Marjorie Harvey before they tied the knot.
A video of the couple discussing Harvey's past playboy ways recently resurfaced as they celebrated their 17th anniversary.
While giving advice to a young couple in a 2018 episode of his talk show "Steve," Marjorie shared that she reconnected with the game show host in 2005 following his divorce from his second wife, Mary Shackelford.
The pair had originally met and briefly dated in 1990, but things did not work out between them at the time.
But when Steve and Marjorie reunited and began dating again after his second divorce, he was also seeing other women at the time.
She revealed that he had a roster of romantic partners he was seeing on rotation -- something that the TV personality confirmed.
"He was planning on having an arrival and departure schedule on his door, and when you got there, you signed in. You saw what time you got there, and then the next one she'd leave, and the next one would come in," Marjorie recalled.
Marjorie made it clear to Steve that she wanted only an exclusive relationship with him.
"And I said, Well, that's fine, but my name ain't gon' be on that list," she said on his talk show.
"So it's one of those things. Once you know what you want, and if he wants you, then he knows what it's going to take for you," she added.
Steve chimed in to add more details about the "ultimatum" Marjorie gave him to either stop his playboy ways or choose a "real" relationship with her.
"And that's what I call a very soft threat," Steve joked before explaining, "That ultimatum was 'cause what actually happened was she was in my place in New York. My phone rang while she was over there asleep on the couch... It was a girl. And I'm over there against the window at my desk talking, but I hung up. I didn't know she heard it."
The "Family Feud" host then recalled waking up at 3 a.m. to find Marjorie dressed up and her bags packed, preparing to leave.
When Steve asked why she was going home, Marjorie told him, "When you ready for something special and real, you come get me."
According to Steve, he then broke his flip phone and threw it in the trash can to show he was ready to commit to her -- a decision that ultimately led to them tying the knot in 2007.
Since then, the Harveys have experienced their fair share of ups and downs in their marriage, including allegations that she cheated on him with their staff.
Earlier this month, Steve and Marjorie debunked the rumors of marital strife by posting loved-up photos from their romantic getaway in Italy to celebrate 17 years of marriage.
In one post on X, formerly Twitter, Steve declared that his and Marjorie's marriage was "still going strong" after nearly two decades.
