Shannen Doherty Filed For Divorce From Her Husband One Day Before She Died
In her final hours, Shannen Doherty was dissolving her marriage for good.
One day before her death, the 'Charmed' star filed for divorce from her estranged husband Kurt Iswarienko.
Doherty, who had been fighting breast cancer since 2015, had petitioned for a dissolution of her marriage to Iswarienko on July 12, according to documents filed by the Superior Court of California and obtained by 'E!'
The 'Beverly Hills, 90210' alum noted that the "parties had entered into written agreement," reportedly "uncontested," regarding their property and domestic partnership rights.
Last month during a legal battle, Doherty accused Iswarienko of not fulfilling his spousal duties and was allegedly "waiting for her to die."
Doherty was seeking over $15,000 in spousal support from Iswarienko, with whom she has shared a life with for over a decade.
She had openly criticized Iswarienko for his alleged attempts to prolong their divorce proceedings in the hopes that she might pass away before he is required to provide her with financial support.
In an emotional statement to 'PEOPLE,' Doherty claimed how "It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years."
'The Blast' reported Iswarienko's legal team firmly denied her allegations.
In a statement, they asserted that "Kurt is not 'simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die.' He wants the best for Shannen, and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward."
Doherty died on July 13 after an extended battle with cancer.
She was 53.
"It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways," Doherty said on 'Good Morning America' about her stage four diagnosis in 2020. "There are definitely days where I say, 'Why me?' And then I go, 'Well, why not me? Who else besides me deserves this?' None of us do."
