President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, and the internet is having a field day.

The White House announced the 81-year-old president's diagnosis Wednesday and said he is now self-isolating after experiencing mild symptoms.

Shortly after the revelation, "Now Biden" and "COVID" became trending topics on X, formerly Twitter, as numerous users shared hilarious reactions, memes, and jokes about the news.

One X user mocked Biden by sharing a photo of him holding up a fist with a rainbow flag flying behind him. The image is an edited version of the now-viral photo of Donald Trump fist-pumping with an American flag in the background following his attempted assassination.

"Biden after 'beating COVID,'" the user captioned the edited image.

Another person seemingly poked fun at the toilet paper shortage during the pandemic by posting a photo of a shopping cart overflowing with bundles of toilet paper.

"When I heard Biden got Covid I immediately got in my car and drove to the store as fast as I could to buy toilet paper in case there's a repeat of 4 years ago," the user wrote.

A third user uploaded a screenshot of a text message that read, "There are decades where nothing happens and there are weeks where the two most evil men alive almost die in the two funniest ways possible," and joked that this was how they learned about Biden's diagnosis.

Another accused Biden of being a superspreader, sharing a video of Biden talking to a child without a mask on during a visit to a Las Vegas grocery store Tuesday -- a day before his positive test was announced.

Some X users predicted that the COVID-19 diagnosis was a sign that Biden was ready to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

One person shared a now-viral video of the president climbing the stairs slowly and pausing a few times while boarding Air Force One in Las Vegas Wednesday.

"After testing positive for 'Covid,' Biden can BARELY even walk up the short stairs. HE IS GONNA DROP OUT!!" the user wrote alongside the clip.

"I don't believe for one second that Biden tested positive for COVID. I do believe it's the setup for his withdrawal from the race," read a comment under the post.

Trump aide and former National Security Council official Kash Patel had a similar take while sharing his thoughts on Biden's diagnosis Wednesday.

Patel noted that just hours before it was announced that he has COVID-19, Biden said in an interview with BET News' Ed Gordon that he would consider stepping aside if a "medical condition" emerged.

"They are working to take him out. COVID is step one and then they're going to have step two," Patel speculated during an interview.

While the Biden campaign has given no indication of a withdrawal as of Wednesday night, the odds of him dropping out surged following his COVID-19 diagnosis.

Predictive betting website Polymarket shared on X that the likelihood that Biden would drop out of the presidential race rose from 33% to 50% earlier Wednesday after the president said he would reevaluate his decision to continue running if he's diagnosed with a medical condition.

According to an image Polymarket provided, the odds "shot up to 66%" after the announcement that Biden has COVID-19.

Calls from Democrats for Biden to give up his candidacy have steadily increased in the weeks following his disastrous performance at his June 27 presidential debate against Trump.

However, Biden has repeatedly dismissed concerns about his mental fitness and insisted that he won't step aside.
