On Monday, bidding for Kobe Bryant's locker from the Staples Center began online. Sotheby's is overseeing the auction. Originally slated for destruction during the 2018 renovations of the Staples Center, the locker was saved by a maintenance worker and later bought by a collector as a unique piece of memorabilia.

The auction for the locker will close on August 2, with projections suggesting it could exceed $1 million. As of the latest update, the highest bid stands at $700,000. A part of the final bid amount will be donated to charity, according to 'TMZ.'

Kobe Bryant, his 14-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant, and seven others died in a helicopter crash in 2020.

Bryant's wife Vanessa Bryant found out about the death of her husband and daughter online, a matter that she later brought to court.
She sued the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on the grounds of negligence and invasion of privacy. According to BBC, she alleged "that officers shared graphic photos of the crash scene, including Kobe and Gianna's bodies."
