Nelly's mugshot has been released after the rapper was arrested on drug possession charges in Missouri early Wednesday morning.

In the mugshot released by the Maryland Heights Police Department and obtained by local news outlet KRCG, Nelly's eyes appeared glassy and bloodshot, and he seemingly had a slight smile on his face.

The 49-year-old Grammy winner -- real name Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. -- sported a black hoodie, white T-shirt and what appeared to be a silver necklace as he was reportedly booked for possession of four ecstasy pills and for not having vehicle insurance.

Nelly's mugshot has since garnered a lot of attention across various social media platforms, including Reddit and X, formerly Twitter.

Some social media users suggested that Nelly looked stoned in his mugshot.

"Homie looks like y'all f**ked up his good night he had going!!!! Lol," one X user commented.

"Let him enjoy his roll. Give the man some water," another wrote.

A third user claimed Nelly "was shook" in the image, while another suggested the rapper seemed like "he was about to cry."

Others poked fun at Nelly's mugshot, with one Reddit user joking that they "didn't recognize him without the [Band-Aid]," referring to the rapper's now-iconic plaster look.

"Nelly might have the funniest mugshot ever," an X user quipped.

Some speculated about how Nelly's pregnant wife Ashanti may have reacted to his arrest.

"I know Ashanti cussed him out 'cause why are [you] getting your old a*s self arrested," a different user tweeted.

Nelly was arrested at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights, a suburb outside his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, according to arrest records cited by KRCG.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol told TMZ that troopers who were stationed at the casino asked the "Hot In Herre" hitmaker to show his ID for a background check.

After his information was run for verification, in accordance with Missouri Gaming Commission regulations, an outstanding warrant for Nelly from Maryland Heights Police for a failure to appear in court popped up.

The warrant was from a previous traffic stop six years ago in which Nelly was found to have no vehicle insurance.

The rapper was then arrested, and during a search, he was allegedly found with four ecstasy pills

Nelly was booked at the Maryland Heights Police Department and later released.

However, an attorney for the rapper has denied that Nelly's charges included drug possession and blasted the "overzealous, out of line officer" who allegedly targeted his client.

"Mr. Haynes was not charged with drug possession. He was arrested for 'No Proof of Insurance' from 2018 on a warrant issued December 2023 that he received no notice. Mr. Haynes was targeted by an overzealous, out of line officer," Nelly's lawyer said in a statement to Us Weekly.

"After winning several jackpots, at a venue where Mr. Haynes frequently visits and entertains at its amphitheater; instead of just supervising the transfer of Mr. Haynes' winnings, this officer felt compelled to needlessly run a check for warrants."
