The Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions will face off this afternoon in their first match of the regular season.

After a month of preseason matchups, the NFL 2013 season official kicked off on Thursday with a clash between the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos. Today will see the continuation of Week One as 13 games take place across the nation.

During the preseason weeks, Minnesota lost three of their four games, falling to Houston in Week One, crumbling before the Buffalo Bills in Week Two, and losing out to San Francisco in Week Three. However, the Vikings did manage to pull out a one-point victory over Tennessee in Week Four.

For their part, Detroit triumphed in three of there preseason games, beating out the Jets in Week One, the New England Patriots in Week Three, and the Buffalo Bills in Week Four while being crushed by Cleveland in Week Two.

The Vikings will enter the game with Super Bowl MVP Christian Ponder as Quarterback while the Lions will field Texas native Matthew Stafford. With more touchdown passes and yards, the Lions QB presents better stats than Ponder, according to NFL.com.

The Vikings/Lions game will kick off at 1 p.m. at Ford Field in Detroit. Fans can live stream the game at Online NFL Games or through NFL Live.
