‘Thor The Dark World’ Spoilers: Thor 'Growing Up' & 'Potentially Becoming a King?' [TRAILER & Details]
New comments from Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor give clues about how much the movie's hero changes throughout the film, as well as just how different he is from the beginning.
According to Philstar, Taylor hints that Thor has become more mature as a character, a major step up from the one fans were introduced to in the first movie.
"In the first film, we saw Thor go from being an impetuous prince to taking his first steps towards maturing and growing up," he said. "And in our film, that life story continues."

In the first film, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is a powerful but arrogant god that was tossed out of Asgard and forced to live with the humans of Earth. After meeting astrophysicist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Thor begins to learn how to be a more humble and kind person, traits that serve him well when his brother Loki sends the Destroyer to Earth to kill Thor once and for all, wreaking havoc on the humans in the process. The new Thor must then defend the humans and stop Loki once and for all.
Thor's conflict with Loki was continued in 2012's The Avengers, when Loki tried once again to destroy Earth. At the end of the film, he was seen being taken back to Asgard by Thor as a prisoner.
Thor's actions in both films could be setting him up to finally become the king of Asgard soon, if Taylor's comments about the character are any indication.
"He's moving closer to actually claiming the kind of power that comes with Odin. He's becoming not just a man, but potentially a king as well," Taylor said. "In this story, as Thor matures and deepens, he has to give some things up and suffer."
